Marburg virus disease is a rare but very severe illness in humans. It is caused by a filovirus closely related to Ebola and leads to sudden symptoms like high fever, headache, muscle pain, and extreme weakness.

As it progresses, it can cause internal bleeding, organ failure, and in many cases can be fatal if not treated quickly with supportive medical care. The virus spreads through direct contact with infected bodily fluids or contaminated materials.
